[This is an activity addressed to Advanced Didactics of the English Language. I only use this blog as a tool to show the materials I created for the activity. This blog was originally created for the ICT Tools Applied to the Learning of English Language subject, so all the post publicated before of the 6th of december are part of an ICT activity and this post is part of an Advanced Didactics of the English Language activity]
The BFG
This activity is addressed to children of 4th of primary. The objective of this activity is to make the children understand the
whole text without explaining it word by word and to help them to pronounce
difficult words. The aim is to improve their listening comprehension and pronunciation skills.
Here you'll find a crossword, a record, two worksheets and a powerpoint presentation shared with slideshare.
First the teacher should hand the first sheet out and show the crossword to the class in the interactive board, so all the class can see it and can work together to solve it.
We won't move to the listening task till we know that all the students really know the meaning of the words and can use them.
Then, the teacher should reproduce this record but without showing any image, so the students really focus in the oral input. They will listen it twice. They will have to answer the questions in the sheet individually. After completing this activity the teacher will ask different student to read their answers to the questions and they will correct them all together.
Then the teacher will hand the second sheet. She will reproduce the record again, however now they could read the text at the same time. After that, they will have to answer the questions in the sheet individually. Again, after completing this activity the teacher will ask different student to read their answers to the questions and they will correct them all together.
Finally, we'll do a pronunciation task.
The teacher will reproduce one of the words at the same time that they all see a picture of the word on the interactive whiteboard. Then she will repeat the word out loud trying to pronounce properly, then she will ask all the class to repeat the word. Then she will only show the picture to the class and she will ask one by one to pronounce the word properly. After that each student has to say out loud a sentence with a word they choose.
